- ICEB holds its 7th General Assembly from 11th May to 15th May in partnership with Academy London, Google’s dedicated learning space
- Focus for the week will be on braille in digital form as an exciting and relevant code for the future
London, February 11th, 2020 – The UK Association for Accessible Formats has announced it will host the forthcoming International Council on English Braille (ICEB) General Assembly from May 11th through 15th in partnership with RNIB. The main conference day is on Thursday 14th May, which will showcase an exciting programme of guest speakers, big tech companies, plenary sessions, new research and an exhibition area. There will also be a number of interesting papers presented on the afternoon of Wednesday 13th.
There are a variety of fascinating subjects to explore during the Assembly, including Braille Music, Braille Dyslexia, UEB maths, and automated Braille production. There will also be reports from the World Braille Council and the African Forum as well as individual countries, including USA, Ireland, Nigeria and New Zealand.
Commenting on this year’s theme and speaker line-up, Richard West, Chair of UKAAF, said, “We are delighted to host this General Assembly with our partners, RNIB, to help promote the importance of Braille and showcase its ongoing evolution. It provides a great opportunity for interested parties to explore the latest developments from around the world.”
Everyone attending the event needs to register. There is a payment of £20 per day, with a maximum of £60 for three or more days.
