For Transcribers  Print

Because format quality matters.

Transcribers - whether they are working alone, in a transcription agency, or as a specialist unit as part of an organisation whose main purpose is not transcription - have said that they'd like better opportunities to share expertise, best practice, and have ways of demonstrating their competence and promoting their services.

UKAAF can help you by:

  • Explaining how quality matters
  • Promoting your service in our Directory of Services
  • Running the TQAS Transcription Quality Assessment Scheme for transcribed materials for you to demonstrate your quality transcription
  • Sharing feedback from users, service providers and other transcribers about their experiences of accessible information
  • Providing advice - coming soon: guidelines for those commissioning accessible formats; a customer survey for service providers and transcribers to send to their customers about accessible formats they require and what they receive; and guidelines and checklists for accessible format production.

UKAAF can also help you by sharing with you what users need. Our User Advisory Group is made up of end-users (blind and partially sighted people and those with other print impairments) who use and care about accessible formats, and who can take part in consultations and research to help establish user needs.
